Update: Pausing Distribution, Working to Correct Zipper System on Units

After receiving much feedback about the Makeshift Traveler units, we have decided to pause distribution and begin working with a Sewing Company in San Francisco to correct the 350+ Makeshift Traveler units we have on hand. The majority of the complaints entailed zippers becoming stuck or breaking off. This is common amongst the lesser-quality zippers we used, and we are already working on improving this for the next model. Although, for the existing units on hand, the process will be to build and construct a prototype, where we can test 5-7 units with people experiencing homelessness.

This morning we dissected the Makeshift Traveler unit and decided on a few new features to improve each backpack’s zipper and security system.
