Sending 100 Makeshift Travelers to St. Croix in the Virgin Islands!

We’re excited to share that 100 Makeshift Traveler backpacks are heading to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This distribution marks an important expansion of our work beyond the mainland, ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability in St. Croix have access to practical, reliable tools that support daily survival and communication.

We’re proud to be working alongside Karen Dickie and The Collection Collaboration to make this effort possible. Through their local leadership and coordination, the backpacks will reach individuals who need secure storage, solar-powered phone charging, and essential supplies to navigate daily life more safely and consistently. Strong local partnerships are critical to responsible distribution, and we’re grateful to collaborate with a team that understands the community and its specific needs.

Each Makeshift Traveler includes integrated solar charging with battery storage, organized compartments for documents and personal items, and essential survival supplies. By sending 100 fully equipped backpacks to St. Croix, we’re supporting stability, connectivity, and dignity for individuals facing housing insecurity on the island.

We’re thankful for the partnership and look forward to continued collaboration in St. Croix.
