Georgia Tennis Tournament Supports Unhoused Women Veterans

The Serve it Forward tennis tournament in Richmond Hill, Georgia, raised awareness for unhoused women veterans.

Sally Rejas organized the Saturday event to provide unhoused female veterans with at least two days of shelter through funds from the registration proceeds.

Beyond shelter, the event connected veterans with organizations like the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Rejas, a Ms. Veteran America ambassador, said it is important to acknowledge the service of female veterans alongside their male counterparts.

For Rejas, the event aimed to foster a sense of belonging and visibility for veteran women. She wants veterans to feel supported and connected to their community.

“I’m hoping veterans know that they are not alone and that they’re not forgotten,” she said. “So, at the end of the day, I want them to make new friends, new buddies, right here in Richmond Hill, because we care about our veterans.”
