This week, The HomeMore Project had the opportunity to deliver 15 Makeshift Traveler backpacks to individuals experiencing homelessness in Yuba City, thanks to the generous support of the AG West Yuba City branch.
Our distribution was done in collaboration with Hands of Hope, a trusted community organization serving unhoused individuals in the Yuba-Sutter region. Their team deeply understands the local challenges; from limited shelter capacity to the lack of transitional housing resources and we were honored to partner with their outreach staff, who know the names and stories of the people receiving support.
During this distribution, we spoke with several recipients who shared how having a secure, durable bag made them feel safer and more in control. One person shared that the ability to charge their phone would allow them to stay in contact with their case worker, a seemingly small detail that can be life-changing.
We are incredibly grateful to AG West for making this possible and to Hands of Hope for their partnership, compassion, and commitment to serving the Yuba City community. Because of this collaboration, 15 individuals now have more protection from the elements, more capacity to stay connected, and more dignity in their daily lives.
