You may recognize the adorable pup in the bottom right; that is Jasper, Jada’s mom, who we stumbled upon today. Jada directed us to her good friend Jessica, who had been unhoused for just a few weeks after being evicted from her apartment. Jada, Jessica, and I revisited a prior discussion about the hesitancy from Shelters and other Temporary Housing options to allow residents to have pets. Jessica has two cats and a small dog, and even then, she finds it challenging to find a place to stay with them.

Before starting HomeMore, I would always feel sorry for pets who are unhoused with their owners. Perhaps, in the pet’s mind, it is a perfect scenario. As house pet owners, whether it’s work or school, or our social lives, we constantly leave our pets alone at home. This time of support that Jasper provides Jada and Jessica’s pets provide her cannot be unaccounted for during the process of providing programs and housing to help them.

Jessica’s information was obtained, and we are still in contact with her as she awaits an appointment from the city for permanent housing. If you would like to support Jessica, please click the button below and write a comment, “Jessica.”
