In 2023, The HomeMore Project had 500 Makeshift Traveler backpacks in production with nowhere to store them. At the time, over 200 backpacks were stacked floor to ceiling inside a 300 square foot apartment in San Francisco while distributions continued throughout the Tenderloin. Then a phone call from Bert Inch led to an unexpected relationship with TransPak Hayward. After one simple ask for a small corner to store 10 to 15 pallets, TransPak stepped in without hesitation. Years later, their support continues to help us store Makeshift Travelers, Bombas socks, DVNF health and comfort kits, Empowerment Plan coats, plus other donated essentials. Because of partners like Bert, Z, Yaqob, and the TransPak Hayward team, these supplies will support over 3,000 people experiencing homelessness across California in 2026.
